The Great Greek

May 20th, 2016 by Benjamin Billings

The Las Vegas area has Greek places scattered all over, and the quality of these places is equally all over the map.  I found an odd one in Henderson that has a burger. So often times places that throw a burger onto the menu should have saved us all the trouble and left it off. This coupled with the “gonzo” nature of this offering made me dubious. Should you make the drive to Henderson for it?  Let’s take a look.

Dish {fine burger bistro} (Prague, Czech Republic)

October 1st, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Prague_a (78)My European burger adventures were often like skating on thin ice; I knew my wife liked burgers almost as much as me, but with so much other good food around it was sometimes difficult to work a burger meal into our city visits. Any time we had a less-than-mediocre burger I knew the tides were slowly turning towards fewer burgers, but when my birthday happened in Prague she opted to find a burger dinner for me despite our previous failure a few days prior. She found Dish {fine burger bistro} in her search and that’s just where we ended up. I hadn’t seen much about it during my research, so I really didn’t know what to expect coming into it, but I’m so glad we went. continue reading »

Burger House (Munich, Germany)

August 13th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Munich_a (78)So after last week’s disaster, let’s get back to business with another burger review. I’m still only halfway through my European trip and sampling of what else is out there in the world. After making it through over three weeks in Spain with only one slider worthy of a visit, and a solid month in Italy with no good burgers to speak of, we headed into Germany where surely a good burger could be found. I again resorted to some basic online searching to see what burger joints got the most attention to see if there was anything worth our time. The consensus seemed to be that Burger House was of the top joints in Munich, so that’s where we headed one afternoon instead of our go-to biergarten. Hopefully they would present me with the first really solid burger I could report on?

View Wine Bar

March 18th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

perfectionI will fully admit that I don’t hide my hatred for over-hyped restaurants on the strip or failed areas of town like Tivoli Village, so it was with great hesitation that I took a few recent suggestions to go try the burger at View Wine Bar. Many restaurants and stores have come and gone from this ghost town of a shopping area, and I question how long anything could survive there based on how few people are around each time I visit. Because no one is ever there I typically assume that this means there’s nothing worthy of perusing or devouring here, but after my most recent visit I couldn’t be more wrong. continue reading »

Nobhill Tavern (CLOSED)

March 4th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

huge fries! This meal deserves a full review due to both the longevity of this restaurant in Vegas as well as the quality, but you only have until the end of the month before it closes for good so I’ll keep it short and give you time to get there. Nobhill has been in the MGM Grand for over 12 years now and recently announced their closure to make way for a new venue in a couple months. Known for a killer happy hour, they serve a burger on this menu that has somehow gone under my radar until recently. I only wish I was told about this burger earlier.

Rattlecan (CLOSED)

January 2nd, 2013 by Erik Chudy

BK?Ever since I first got word of Rattlecan on the Eater website many months ago I’ve been excited about it; not only did it look totally cool, but it was backed by Chef Sammy D who has already made a pretty great burger in town. A few weeks before it opened I was able to do a quick walkthrough with a Venetian employee which did nothing to calm my excitement either. Plus since it opened, I’ve had many friends and readers chime in with how good the burgers are. All this has built up to quite the hype, so when I finally ventured in there this past weekend I was expecting quite a bit. So how did it hold up to all the pressure? continue reading »

Palm Restaurant

September 25th, 2012 by Erik Chudy

lots of food hereOne of my biggest gripes lately has been regarding price; while I fully expect a burger in a strip location to cost upwards of $15, I find it very hard to pay up when there are amazing choices for under $5 in albeit locations of not the greatest ambiance. It is this reason that I got excited the other day while reading a little blurb on Eater Vegas about a burger deal at the Palm Restaurant in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. The starting price was still almost twice the price of some stand out cheap meals I’ve had, but could this discount help out? continue reading »
