Dish {fine burger bistro} (Prague, Czech Republic)

October 1st, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Prague_a (78)My European burger adventures were often like skating on thin ice; I knew my wife liked burgers almost as much as me, but with so much other good food around it was sometimes difficult to work a burger meal into our city visits. Any time we had a less-than-mediocre burger I knew the tides were slowly turning towards fewer burgers, but when my birthday happened in Prague she opted to find a burger dinner for me despite our previous failure a few days prior. She found Dish {fine burger bistro} in her search and that’s just where we ended up. I hadn’t seen much about it during my research, so I really didn’t know what to expect coming into it, but I’m so glad we went. continue reading »

Burger House (Munich, Germany)

August 13th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

Munich_a (78)So after last week’s disaster, let’s get back to business with another burger review. I’m still only halfway through my European trip and sampling of what else is out there in the world. After making it through over three weeks in Spain with only one slider worthy of a visit, and a solid month in Italy with no good burgers to speak of, we headed into Germany where surely a good burger could be found. I again resorted to some basic online searching to see what burger joints got the most attention to see if there was anything worth our time. The consensus seemed to be that Burger House was of the top joints in Munich, so that’s where we headed one afternoon instead of our go-to biergarten. Hopefully they would present me with the first really solid burger I could report on?

A Reason to Read Another Bachi Review

April 16th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

There have been only a small handful of restaurants that I actually granted a revisit for one reason or another, despite many requests following some negative reviews over the years. In some cases, like Honey Salt, my first visit was only weeks into their opening so I felt it was necessary after so many accolades for me to come back and see how they tweaked things to run more smoothly. Another well-deserved restaurant was Bachi Burger; my initial review was one of the first on this blog so I felt a better-documented revisit was in order after a while. Of all the places I’ve gone to for repeat meals, none have impressed me as much as Bachi so I feel it’s time for one more review. You’re probably asking yourself why you need to read yet another review about them, but I have my reasons. continue reading »

Pizza Rock

March 26th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

creamyEither I’m getting lucky or some restaurants are just stepping up their game; the last few reviews I’ve posted have all been from extremely positive experiences. Some people claim I’m a bit too critical, but that’s what I’m here for. And besides, I’ve reviewed over 120 burgers in Vegas now so I have a few to reference. This next one comes from a new pizza joint that opened a few months ago called Pizza Rock. I’ve avoided a few reviews such as this in the past because I always assume a restaurant that has one main focus surely can’t make a decent burger, but after my last review that may no longer be the case. If one Italian-focused restaurant produced a fantastic burger, can a second? continue reading »

Buddy V’s Ristorante

March 12th, 2014 by Erik Chudy

pretty burgerA long time ago I gave a not-so-positive review to my first experience at Honey Salt just a few weeks after they opened. Many months later I was invited back for a revisit to experience the tweaks and changes they made to their burger. Needless to say it was vastly improved, and I have been back many times since. During one of my more recent visits the fantastic Chef Joe Z told me about the new burger at Buddy V’s in the Venetian that I had to check out. Since he was the man behind two great burgers and many more dishes at Honey Salt, I had to make my way there. It took a few months, but I finally got over there the other day to see if he was able to create another successful burger in a completely different location. continue reading »

RM Seafood

August 21st, 2013 by Erik Chudy

pickles! One of my long time favorites in town, Burger Bar, has seriously gone downhill in recent visits. This drop in quality has left Mandalay Bay with an opening for someone to step in with a great burger. Citizen’s recently failed to do so, but some recent messages from a few readers let me to an unassuming location: RM Seafood. Going into a seafood restaurant to try a burger seems blasphemous, but I’m around for one task regardless of the type of venue. I’ve also gotten a tip that the newly opened Rx Boiler Room has a great burger, but that will have to be tackled soon on another trip. continue reading »

Honey Salt (a revisit)

May 9th, 2013 by Erik Chudy

two burgers!I think there are many overrated restaurants throughout the valley, especially on the Strip. Several of the off-Strip locations that have opened in the past year have been getting lots of attention from the reviewers in town, some of which I may have been unimpressed by on my first visit. A perfect example is Honey Salt in Summerlin; I went a few weeks after opening and wasn’t thrilled with the burger or much else that we ordered. But the constant comments around town from other writers and friends has started to make me think otherwise, so when an opportunity arose for me to come back for another visit I jumped on it. Armed with the knowledge of what I’m really supposed to order off their menu this time, as well as the fact they knew I was coming all meant this should be much better than my first time. Right? continue reading »
